Estimate charging time

Uses the rule: time ≈ (Ah to replace) ÷ charger amps. We add ~20% for smart chargers (absorption phase takes longer). Cold weather can extend time further.

Typical car: 40–70Ah. Van/SUV: 70–110Ah.

Typical smart charger: 3.5–5A. Trickle: 1–2A. Fast: 6–10A.

Estimated charging time

about 9 hours

To replace ~30Ah at 4A (with taper). Overnight (8–12h) is usually enough for most cars on a 4–5A smart charger.

This is an estimate. Smart chargers reduce current in the absorption phase, so the last 10–20% takes longer. Cold weather also slows charging.
