Chargers for Lithium Batteries
Lithium automotive batteries require dedicated lithium chargers. Never use lead-acid or AGM-only chargers.
Charging lithium (LiFePO4) automotive batteries
Lithium automotive batteries (usually LiFePO4) need a charger designed for lithium. The voltage limits and charge algorithm are different from lead-acid and AGM: typically a max of around 14.2V–14.6V for 12V systems, with no equalisation and often a different float or storage voltage. Using a lead-acid or AGM charger can overcharge the cells, cause swelling, fire risk, or void the warranty.
If your vehicle or bike has a lithium battery, only use a charger that explicitly states lithium/LiFePO4 compatibility. Do not use AGM mode as a substitute. In the UK, lithium starter batteries are still a minority but growing; always check the battery label and charger manual.
