Chargers for EFB Batteries
EFB batteries work with many smart chargers; some have a dedicated EFB mode for optimal charging.
Charging EFB batteries
EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery) is a step between standard flooded and AGM. Many EFB batteries can be charged with a standard smart charger, but some chargers offer a specific EFB mode that optimises the cycle (slightly different voltage/time) and can extend life. If your car handbook or battery label specifies EFB, check that your charger supports it; if in doubt, an AGM-capable smart charger is usually a safe choice as long as you do not use a high-rate fast charge without checking limits.
As with AGM, avoid leaving an EFB battery on a charger that has no float stage or that is set to an unsuitable profile. In the UK, EFB is common on smaller Start/Stop cars; correct charging helps prevent premature failure and Start/Stop system warnings.
